The VISD Connections recently announced an exciting lineup of four sessions in its Parent University series - an initiative dedicated to equipping parents and guardians with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to actively support their children’s education and well-being. More than just informational sessions, Parent University is about building a strong partnership between schools and families, ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive.
Why is this important?
Research consistently shows that parental involvement is one of the most significant factors in a child’s academic success. When families engage in their child’s learning, students are more likely to excel in school, develop positive social skills, and build resilience to face life’s challenges. VISD understands the pivotal role that parents and caregivers play - which is why Parent University was created. Each session provides expert guidance on relevant topics that help parents navigate common challenges, create a positive home learning environment, and foster their child’s success both in and out of the classroom.
Since its inception in October, Parent University has been shaped by the valuable feedback of our families, ensuring that the sessions align with the specific needs of our community. The free workshops cover a range of topics designed to empower parents with practical strategies they can implement immediately to support their children’s development.
