The Victoria ISD Child Nutrition Department will once again provide free summer meals to children throughout the Victoria community through both its on-site Summer Meal Program and Rural Summer Meal Program. The programs ensure that children ages 18 and younger have access to nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session.
Through the district's Rural Summer Meal Program, families may pick up breakfast and lunch meals curbside at Aloe Elementary School. The program, now in its fourth year, provides multiple days' worth of meals during each distribution.
Meal distribution will take place every Monday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Aloe Elementary School, 62 Chaparral, Victoria, TX 77905, from June 1 through July 30. On Mondays, families will receive meals for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Thursdays, families will receive meals for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Students must be verified prior to meal pickup. Children do not have to attend Victoria ISD schools to participate. Families may obtain student verification and additional information by contacting the VISD Child Nutrition Department at 361.788.9235.
Each participating family will receive a dashboard placard to help expedite future meal pickups. Placards may be obtained at the VISD Administration Building, 102 Profit Drive, or at the Aloe Elementary distribution site.
In addition to curbside meal distribution, Victoria ISD will offer free on-site breakfast and lunch meals at campuses and community partner locations throughout the summer. Meals are available to all children ages 18 and younger and must be consumed on site. No registration or identification is required for most locations.
Victoria ISD's Summer Meal Program and Rural Summer Meal Program help ensure that children continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out for the summer. Free meals are available to all children 18 years of age and younger through a combination of on-site meal service locations and curbside meal distribution.
Summer meal sites will begin serving meals as early as June 1 and continue through July 31, depending on the location.
